How it all came to be…
The Poroti Tavern is operated by Arvinder Singh(Harry). They pride themselves on running a friendly and welcoming tavern, looking after their customers, and the tavern is a former winner of the Whangarei Alcohol Accord Host Responsibility Awards.
This historic country pub replaces the original tavern which was burnt down in 1950. Old photos featuring the gumdigging history of the area, the Wairua Falls and the tavern can be seen on the tavern walls.
Open 6 Days in a week
The restaurant is open 6 days a week for breakfast, lunch and dinner, as well as functions.
The restaurant seats are upto 120 People. The Poroti Tavern offers quality country meals, at affordable prices. We can cater for functions — birthday parties, Christmas dinner, staff meetings and family dinners are commonly held at the tavern. It’s a great spot for a Hen’s Party or Baby Shower. In winter you can find a cosy haven by the open fire. In summer, the restaurant opens out to a courtyard.
